Wii - Mentally, Physcially, and Emotionally Helpful

This Christmas we got spoiled hugely. And one of the best gifts that we got and gave was the Nintendo Wii.

Hearing a lot about it, mostly the commercials for Wii yoga, we decided to purchase it for ourselves and our parents.

What a huge surprise we had in store for us about how much we would enjoy it and how good it would be for us.

Wii sports has interactive games like bowling, golf, and tennis. You are actually using a wireless sensor remote and swinging the golf club or hitting the tennis ball by your movements.

All of us enjoyed the games and being bowlers for most of our lives we knew that accuracy of the bowling game was dead on. It actually felt like we were in the bowling alley but with the comfort of our own home.

Not only did we get off the couch and get some exercise but we also were
stimulated mentally and emotionally. It's fitness for every part of you!

I have to say that I would guarantee if you weren't feeling well in spirit and you played a game of interactive bowling or golfing you can't help but feel better during and afterwards. I'm not sure if it's the competition or the accomplishment when you finish the game or maybe it's just the fact of doing something that's really fun but you literally feel better afterwards.

I've been doing some reading on it since we got it and it turns out that many seniors homes are even bringing Wii into their residences. It keeps the residents active and
improves flexibility and agility. It also improves balance which is majorly important for elderly people considering a fall can put them in the hospital very quickly.

I've worked at a seniors home and I know the importance of keeping them active. In fact they get an exercise routine almost everyday and they are encouraged to participate. I would have to assume that the residents who wouldn't normally participate in a round circle exercise routine might take a chance at virtual bowling if given the opportunity.

Not only is it fun but it's
very user friendly. It took seconds to put together, which doesn't happen often, and we understood the mechanics of the games very quickly after we began playing.

I strongly recommend Wii as a gift for anyone regardless of age or ability for a natural high and improvement in health.

Top 5 Food Products To Pass Up For Healthier Eating

There are a lot of foods that we eat that have no benefit or value to us whatsoever. Most of these products we are learning about but some truths are still being kept in the dark from us and advertised as healthy. Try taking out these foods from your diet just for one week and see how much better you feel when the weeks is done.

1. Sugar – If you only make one change then let it be to get rid of sugar. Just a few teaspoons can have a significant hormonal and dietary impact for quite a few hours, which throws the body out of balance and into a state of biochemical confusion.

Calories from sugar are empty calories and sugar is in reality an anti-nutrient which means it interferes with the absorption of nutrients, so eating sugar takes essential nutrients away from your body. Because it’s an anti-nutrient it also causes calcium to be lost in the urine, forcing the body to remove calcium from the bones in order to keep the blood calcium levels normal.

2. White Flour – It contains almost no nutrition, is toxic and is an anti-nutrient just like sugar. In the process of creating white flour most of the nutrients are lost. That includes fiber which affects our bowel movements that would normally remove toxins from our body. So Therefore leaving toxins inside of us longer. Just to metabolize the flour many nutrients are stolen for your body to do so. Instead select whole grains like millet, oats, quinoa, spelt, barley, kamut and brown rice.

3. Processed Oils – When oils are heated at an extremely high temperature the Cis-fatty acid molecules change their shape, turning into a deadly class of fats called trans fats. The shape of trans-fats does not work properly for building cell membranes. These improperly shaped structures build a cell wall with holes in it. The cell membranes become leaky and brittle. Because of the way oils are processed, trans-fats are seen in pretty much in all oils sold in grocery stores including but not limited to, canola, corn, safflower, sunflower, cottonseed, and soybean oils like margarine and vegetable shortenings. Salad dressings, breakfast cereals (which also have BHT and BHA preservatives), chips, and fried foods all contain these oils. So keep your eyes open and read your packages.

4. Coffee – It’s another calcium thief. Coffee is acidic and contributes to over acidity in our diet. It changes the pH of our cells and requires calcium to be taken from tissues to neutralize the acidity. I know most people think they can’t get through the day without a coffee but If you’re already feeling better from drinking no coffee then you’ll have the extra energy to get through the day without it.

5. Milk – This one may be a shocker to most. Cow’s milk was meant for calves not humans. Cow’s milk has proteins and fats that are hard for people to digest. Metabolizing some of the fats in milk uses up essential fatty acids which can cause deficiencies. Yet another reason is that pasteurizing destroys nutrients and creates toxins. And as far as calcium goes cow’s milk does not supply nearly the amount that we’ve been told it does. The phosphorus in the milk prevents calcium absorption and it’s also low in magnesium which we need in order to utilize calcium. Are you stuffed up a lot? Try eliminating milk from your diet and see if you feel better. A lot of people are allergic to milk and don’t even know it.

How to Help Your Immune System This Winter

How to Help Your Immune System This The Rediscovery of Colloidal Silver

For thousands of years people have known about its healing and antimicrobial properties. The "Father of Medicine", Hippocrates, would time and again use silver for repairing tissue and wound curing. It was used by old civilizations to control bodily infections and to prevent food spoilage. Silver containers were used by the emperor of Persia to carry water while preventing contamination. It was frequently called the 'Metal of the Moon' by several ancients because of its ability to perform numerous medicinal purposes.

Previous to 1938, colloidal silver was the principle antibiotic treatment, prescribed by thousands of medical practitioners. At that time colloidal silver was considered to be exceptionally high-tech. In the last several decades, major colloidal silver technology advancements have been made enhancing safety and efficiency.

Bacteria is Becoming Defiant to Antibiotics

Colloidal silver was discarded when scientists revealed new antibiotics such as penicillin. However, penicillin is loosing its usefulness due to excessive prescribing. Over the last thirty years, drug corporations have exhausted their time and research developing more lucrative drugs and have neglected to acquire new antibiotics that battle the bacteria's capacity to become resistant to them.

Colloidal Silver Makes a Comeback

Colloidal silver is considered to be the most universal antibiotic; killing bacteria, virus, fungus, and more, and all with no side effects. In fact, properly formulated colloidal silver has been demonstrated to be useful versus over 650 different contagious microorganisms.

How Dependable is Colloidal Silver?

By no means has any kind of negative reaction been reported concerning any other medication and colloidal silver. A lot of users declare it's equally a medicine/preventative for a list of infections. The condition of Argyria, where users have had their skin turn blue, has continuously remained the result of these people using do it yourself kits and there has by no means ever been a case of it from colloidal silver produced by a major manufacturer.

Colloidal Silver and also its Benefits

Well formulated colloidal silver ought to be taken each day to bolster immunity, and reduce susceptibility. Think of the outcome as having a secondary immune system. Take 10 squirts prior to getting on an jet, going into a hospital or once you sense something coming on.

Since body energies are used to continuously combat infection, the silver helps fight for people so they end up feeling healthier and posessing new liveliness. It helps with digestion, promotes rapid healing, and even reduces scaring in injuries such as severe burns. There have been medical cases when doctors have given up and colloidal silver was used in the role of a last resort to treat the sickness. It is tasteless, and won't cause any upset stomachs.

The author Dave Larson, has worked with doctors from BYU in the research of silver colloids and has taken part in numerous major advancements in the field. Drop in on Colloidal Silver Immunity Enhancements for further info.

My Weight Has Gone Up And Down - And Up And Down

on scale

I don't consider myself old by any means but when I was younger I never had to worry about my weight. I always thought I looked good and wore what I wanted to wear while stuffing myself with chips, chocolate bars, and soda as a staple food item.

I pretty much worked all day and danced all night. I was always busy and always had real high self esteem.

Then I slowed down my partying to a reasonable rate and wasn't dancing as much. I eventually moved from a very physically demanding job to a less physical – sitting in front of a computer – job that still had a place for me to keep my junk food.

The weeks went by and before I knew what was happening I couldn’t fit in to my favorite pair of jeans and I could no longer make the buttons connect on my knee length sweater. In fact, I couldn’t even get it around my circumference, it was just too small.

So I started going to the gym. The first year I melted off the gained weight quickly and built up some muscle. I looked and felt better than I had before I even gained the weight in the first place. So once I was satisfied with my weight and my gym membership expired I put working out on the back-burner and grabbed my chocolate bar.

Soon I had gone past the not being able to button up the pants era and entered the - I can’t get the pants past my thigh - era. So I started going to a different gym.

I remember the first time I went to that gym and stepped on the scale and honestly thought to myself that the scale must be broken. I worked out harder than I had ever worked out before. I lost the weight and stopped going to the gym again.

Soon I was in the – I’m not even going to begin to try to put those jeans on – era. And back to another gym I went. But this time I wasn’t motivated for it because I knew that while I may lose the weight I will eventually get tired of the gym, stop going, gain even more weight back and continue this process forever!

So I stopped going altogether and bought a treadmill and some free weights. I had been on the treadmill off and on for a few years when I realized I had gained another twenty pounds that I needed to lose now. To be honest walking on the treadmill was pretty much the most I pushed myself. My heartbeat never had a chance to get up there because I never gave it a chance.

So I bought an elliptical. That would for sure get my heart rate going I told myself. But it’s quite easy to get lost in music land and just kind of robotically move your feet on an elliptical with not much effort.

Well let’s just say I eventually was forty pounds heavier than the days of partying and eating anything I wanted. True, I probably would have gained even more if I had not done my yo-yo gym routines but to be honest it was getting harder if not impossible to lose the weight and I was at a loss of what to do. It used to be so simple for me.

After discussing it with my husband I remembered that I used to do a lot of weights when I first started. Even at my job I was lifting, pushing, and pulling. In fact, cardio was boring to me in the gym and I could only make it through the recommended ten minutes of warm-up most of the time. I would then push myself on the weights and literally exhaust myself with them. And that’s when the light bulb turned on.

I hadn't been doing weights because we have free weights and I didn’t know how to utilize them properly. I had seen the ads for the resistance band, and the exercise ball, and even the use your own body weight for building muscle but I was tricked into thinking that the gym was the only place I could get a good weight workout. I also believed that cardio was the key point in losing weight. Somewhere along the line I had been told this about cardio and embedded it into my brain.

Now I know it’s not true. Not only is cardio not the only part to losing weight but building muscle is essential to losing weight and being healthy.

And you don’t have to go to the gym to do it. You can get the same muscle building and fat burning workout in the comfort of your own home by using the proper techniques and schedule.

Now I actually have a productive workout at home routine and I don’t have to sign up with gym anymore.

Agave - Is It Really Good For You?

Not long ago I settled as using agave for my sweetener thinking it was better than sugar or any other processed sweetener out there. While we knew it wasn’t raw, even though many raw recipes call for it, we still thought it was better than other sweeteners. You can see that we used it in our raw ice cream.

It’s from a plant for god sakes. But the more I think about, after reading up on it, I realize that it’s not straight from the plant. It’s taken and processed to become the liquid we know as agave. If it was straight from the plant we would be able to go to the plant and squeeze out some agave. This is a major bummer for me cause I like agave but the fact that it may be worse than high fructose corn syrup make me go 'uh uh'.

Today, I found a few articles about the negatives of Agave but I think the one I refer to below is the one that really hit home for me. The purpose of his article is to show how agave nectar is not a natural sweetener but a highly refined form of fructose, more concentrated than the high fructose corn syrup used in sodas. I need to research it more but I absolutely understand what's been said in this article and it's enough to make me stop using it until I read more and learn more.

The article entitled ‘Agave Nectar, the High Fructose Health Food Fraud written by Rami Nagel can be found here http://www.naturalnews.com/024892.html.

So until I learn more and satisfy myself on something different I'll be using alternatives to agave.

Some alternatives to sugar:

1. Fresh Fruits. This one's pretty self explanatory. A lot of fruits are naturally sweet and can give your recipe the sweetness it craves.

2. Stevia leaves. It's a herb that tastes sweet. What I found out about stevia is to avoid the white stevia powder and the stevia liquid drops because they have been highly processed. (Another one that surprised me but is good to know)

3. Use dried fruits. If you need it to be liquid you can soak them in water and blend them up with the same soak water. This is kind of like making almond milk. Dates, figs, and prunes are some of the sweetest dried fruits that tend to work well in recipes.

4. Raw Honey - It occurs naturally in nature. Honey is not vegan though and wouldn't work for a lot of people for that reason .

The more I read the more I learn about this seemingly simple thing. I think I will stick to the fruit for now.

Workout Here Or There - Receive The Same Benefits

Workout Here Or There - Receive The Same Benefi
We all know how hard it is to go to the gym on a regular basis and to keep up with your fat burning workout. Once you're done your busy day you don’t necessarily want to run to the gym and spend another few hours away from your loved ones or favorite activities.

But, great news, the gym isn’t your only option for working out and getting good results. You can work out in the comfort of your own home and still get all the benefits that the gym can give you. In fact, how do you think people worked out efficiently before the gym came into existence?

The gym is a service offered to you just like going out to eat is a service offered to you. You can stay at home and eat or go out. They just offer different scenery.

Your goal for working out should be to produce lean muscle, raise your metabolism and fat burning, and provide cardiovascular conditioning. To do this you should be performing an assortment of exercises that will work your major muscle groups in the same workout.

I know that at the gym there is a wide variety of weight machines for you to use and that’s a great thing. You can use different machines and free weights that help you from doing the same thing over and over.

But not everyone feels comfortable at a gym. Some people would feel better working out by themselves so they can do exactly what they want – when they want. And you can mix it up at home as well by alternating fat burning routines.

To be quite honest you don’t need the gym to have a great fat burning workout. Owning your own equipment or even just a set of dumbbells is all you really need. You can work out your whole body from top to bottom with only the dumbbells and a bench. You just have to know the right exercises to be doing.

There are many pluses to working out at home.

First you don’t have to workout next to that sweaty guy who never wipes his machines down when he leaves. Plus you can use whatever weights you want without having to wait for it to become available which benefits you by keeping your heart rate up.

Also, the time you spend for your daily workout is not just the actual workout part but it’s also the time it takes to get to the gym and locker room time. At home, you just head for your workout area and begin. A simple minute of transit time is all you need.

This also applies to your vacations. If you have the ability to use simple weights or your own body for fat burning then you can take them with you anywhere and utilize them anywhere. No more finding out where the nearest gym is or feeling bad about not working out.

Remember those good old days of push ups and sit ups? They haven’t stopped being productive just because we now have an arsenal of weight machines out there. Even weight loss shows, like biggest loser, give tips on how you can work out wherever you are whether it be at the park, beach, or at home.

You don’t have to depend on the gym to give you a great workout. You CAN do it at home.
